Hurricane Irma - September 10-11, 2017

We found ourselves back with the boat with the approach of Hurricane Irma.  We had intentions to take the boat out to a safe place but upon arrival we determined that it would not be that bad of an occurance and chose to tough it out on the dock.

The next day the winds pick up considerably and the water rose.

It turned out to be a wild bucking, bronco ride and we are happy to report no damage to the Archimedes nor any other boat on the dock.  We lost a couple of our best fenders due to severe abuse against the dock, as well as the rub rail but not much more than that.

Season 2016 -2017 is underway!

Knights Marina/Black Creek Yacht Club has been an excellent place to summer the Archimedes.  Thank you for your hospitality!    It's September and time to take the Arc into the yard for a much needed bottom job at Green Cove Springs in Jacksonville, FL, where the cleats are described as adequate!  LOL

This is 6 months of growth.

Lots of attention to the prop and rudder needed.

Looks better

Looking Good!

Now time to splash back in the water and run for cover from approaching hurricane Matthew.  The Captain has found a good hurricane hidey hole in the Dead River off of Black Creek.

I had to go to work in the elections in Tennessee so the Captain recruited crew from Black Creek Marina.  Welcome aboard Mark!
