A New Home Port for the Archimedes????? - January 2022

  MAYBE!!

We have been searching for a small canal front piece of land, that we can afford, for a while now and by gosh...we might just have found it!  It meets all our needs as far as a minimum of 3' depth in canal and a turning basin if necessary which means around 50' width at some point.  133 Bonita Drive in the county of Putnam outside of Palatka, meets all the qualifications for the water needs.  The lot is .23 acre and needs to be cleared but Carter is certainly up to the task . We will need to pull a permit and build a driveway with drain tile.  We have made a verbal offer but at the time of this writing, we have not heard back.

The lot is so filled with brush that taking useful pictures is impossible but I clicked anyway.

January 31st Update:  Our offer was accepted and we plunked down a deposit.  We have been busy drawing out several options for land development.  Let's just see where this takes us.  And...no, we will not be changing our home port on the stern of the Arc.  We will remain "Space Coast".   No way could either one of us ever want to put Palatka as our home!!!!!  This is purely a parking place with a "club house."

Once again, we will be a spectacle as we enter into this canal just as we are a spectacle everywhere we go.  There are no other boats our size in there at all ... that we saw anyway.  But we have taken soundings and the water is deep and there are a couple of wide places that are logistically acceptable for turning.   Here we go again!.......

There is a ever so slight bit of clearing at the back portion of the property.

We have found remnants of a deck here and the wood seems to be in good enough condition.
We will be reusing this material.

Carter tried to conduct soundings to determine where the 3' water begins.
It was a failed attempt.

I wanted to document the properties across the canal that have boats and boat houses but
just couldn't get close enough to the edge of the canal to get good pictures.
It's dense.

Yes, this is what the entire property looks like.

Update:

March 30, 2022

We did it....we bought this property!
